SHAKESPEARE-IN-HOSPITALS is a one-of-a-kind program that eliminates physical, economic, and social barriers to community engagement encountered in the health care sector using performance and classical text. Artists have the opportunity to engage in a creative conversation and build on a network with emerging and established artists from diverse backgrounds, while bringing the results to members of the health care community.
Using devised practices, this project uses scenes from various different plays in the cannon to construct a new story based on common themes and images. This year’s theme will explore How we find home.
As a part of the SOTMSC’s commitment to inclusive staging and employment, we seek to employ artists that fully reflect all audiences and patrons of Toronto. Artists of all cultural, sexual, gender and other identities are encouraged to apply.
