Things have gotten increasingly silly over here as our judges have continued to prep for THIS FRIDAY's epic #ShakesBeersShowdown. Accents, fox hats, Shaggy.... we've had it all.
First up...
Dedicated tester GILLIAN REED had this to say about
her drink of choice:
"During the test night I was drinking my mistakes in
the form of local ciders. My favourite was Duxbury's
Tilted Barn cider. It is a dry hopped cider with a crisp
finish that pairs well with iambic pentameter."
EMMACLAIRE BRIGHTLYN chose a somewhat more..."mature"...taste for her palate that evening. Here's what she had to say about her chosen beverage,
"For an evening of reading black and white, this definitely added a "frisky" to the experience. A lovely Shiraz that was soft on the pallet and paired excellently with homemade pizza. It had a charming nose, with hints of pretension, though those were quickly swept away in a group round with many mistakes. Ideal for sipping reasonably, and extra fun when brought to a Shakespearean drinking game".
COREY TAZMANIA explains, "This is the nectar of the gods! Subtle, dry, with an apple blossom finish. Ardiel Cider House uses an age old tradition of vintiners called “back blending” which gives this cider the full bodied and understated flavor. A perfect match for such histories as Henry IV parts One and Two."
Brewing's Boxing Bruin
Our director in chief TOREY URQUHART
gives us the lowdown.
"Boxing bruin had a bitter kick to it as an I
PA . Helped in kicking the butts of my competitors
(I competed all of once). Good for when you
areat the mid point of your read/night.
Beautiful colour!"
And last but certainly not least, one of our own 2018 directors, RICHARD BEAUNE graced us with his presence and shared a few special words about his sipper.
I knew not what the night would lead me to
When first I opened up the wooden door,
But I crept down so cautiously by you,
And sat with all the others on the floor.
The air was rich with laughter and with song
And with a language rarely heard i’th land,
I little knew it wouldn’t be so long
To you were thrust into my thirsty hand.
You opened with a cool refreshing pop
And started with fresh and herbal scent
I might say citrus, fused with ample hop
As on my tongue you splashed and down you went.
It might just be the night I couldn’t plan,
But I’ve become a Cruiser Pilsner fan.
