Test Nights are evenings we hold each year in which we round up the best-of-the-best thespian volunteers to come help our judges prepare the material for the competition. They do so by a) reading the pieces of first folio the judges present them b) willingly drinking their BYOB beer of choice each time they, er, screw up and then c) ever so coherently communicating their opinions of the pieces in terms of difficulty level, suggested additions for creativity etc.
We ate, we drank... we were very, very merry.
All to say, our volunteers have been *the bomb* and a massive help in forming this year's competition. Thank you to all who came out!
Ontop of performing the first folio in fuzzy hats, accents and a few drinks under, our volunteers also happened to be quite the beer connoisseurs. I asked each of them to give me their most honest review of their drink of choice. Here were some of the favorites!
Our volunteer COREY TAZMANIA says: "This delicate summery ale has the perfect balance between bittery hops and hints of fruit with a clean and crisp finish. A great beer to share with friends on a summer eve while enjoying an outdoor comedy like A Midsummer Night’s Dream".
BEER #2: Stone Hammer Dark
The lovely CASSIE DAVIDSON reports: "Stone
hammer dark was my beer of choice for the
evening. It was a sensationally smooth English
brownale hailing from the beautiful city of Guelph.
Its caramel notes pair especially well with
good company and great Shakespeare
MARIE ISSERMANN describes Creemore as "the 'upscale' lager. Most lagers have kind of the same taste, but Creemore has something very distinguishable about it, which always makes it a pleasure to drink. It's a bit more bitter, and brings something to the palate more refreshing and original than any other generic lager. If you kinda like pale ale but want something lighter and more lagerish to start with, then Creemore is your go-to!"
BEER #4: Amsterdam Boneshaker IPA The ever astute TAYVES FIDDIS explains this beer as "a delightful India Pale Ale that packs a punch of hoppy goodness. At 7.1%, this brew is not for the faint of heart. And it features a skeleton riding a bicycle, my favourite method of transportation. How could it disappoint." |
And if you're looking for yet another beer to tantalize your taste buds as we (FINALLY?) begin hitting patio season, don't forget our fabulous sponsors over at Amsterdam Brewery! Amsterdam will be generously supporting our #ShakesBeersShowdown event, ensuring we all have a safe and fabulous time.
