Henderson Best Amber Ale- Cold, cocky flavorful, bitter but also right, it is bold, and feels like something that has earned a reputation. I like to attribute this beer to Tybalt from Romeo and Juliet due to his fearsome reputation as the best rich fighter!
Well everyone it has finally happened. The moment we have all been waiting for. The final test night before we embrace the force of Shakesbeer! It has been a wild ride so thank you to everyone who has come out to these tester nights and hey we even got a new mascot! So without further ado about nothing......Let's hop right into beer 1! Henderson Best Amber Ale- Cold, cocky flavorful, bitter but also right, it is bold, and feels like something that has earned a reputation. I like to attribute this beer to Tybalt from Romeo and Juliet due to his fearsome reputation as the best rich fighter! Beer Number 2 comes to us from a magical place of witchcraft and magical creatures and spells. I am of course referring to HARRY PORTER a magical brew much like Prospero from the Tempest. It is mysterious like a book of spells from Great Lakes Brewery it is dark and smooth like Dumbledore. Plus extra song like a good potion! BEER NUMBER 3 comes quite out of....Left Field..... from LEFT FIELD BREWERY ONE OF OUR DONOR SPONSORS. This is their WHIP PINA COLADA IPA An exotic beer from the tropics with a strong beer taste mixed with pineapple and coconut. It is exotic like Ariel from the Tempest and boy does it kick up a storm! BEER NUMBER 4: Comes to us from Beau's Brewery called FULL TIME IPA. This was a tough beer to nail down because there were so many amazing flavors in the beer I could only really sum it up with saying it the first Folio of Shakespeare. Can't nail it down to a specific play just an overall collection of flavors BEER NUMBER 5 is also from Beau's Brewery and it is called GOOD TIME. Now what really got me about this beer was the image. It is of a domino effect. Now that is symbolic of how drinking this beer can create a domino effect of good time. With it's fresh taste and aromatic elements it certainly causes that. However also with good times and over indulgence can cause quite a mess. All from one action much like in Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. So drink responsibly to only have a good time. IT HAS BEEN A PLEASURE GETTING TO DRINK BEER AND TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE MORE CONVERSATIONS OVER A DRINK AND SHAKESPEARE MAKE SURE YOU COME OUT MAY 5TH TO SHAKESBEER SHOWDOWN WHERE WE ARE OVER 65% SOLD OUT ALREADY. https://www.nowtickets.ca/events/92921282/shakesbeers-showdown-revenge-of-the-5th

This Tester Night we got the opportunity to try out two rounds for our Shakesbeer Showdown and with that a fresh round of beers! Also enjoyed with a slice of pizza! BEER #1- SIDE LAUNCH a beer to enjoy on the side of all the action! A beer that winks towards the audience on the....SIDE. A nice beer to...LAUNCH a conversation. This beer is always be one's SIDE. Ok I will put the puns off to the SIDE for now. In all seriousness this is also a beer that brings to mind pieces that while not Shakespearean do invoke that same spirit. Aka ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTEIN who take on the roles of directors on an unsuspecting troop of actors doing Hamlet. BEER 2- Now let's pick up the speed a little bit with 3 SPEED LAGER a personal favorite of this General Manager when he is feeling a little quick. This is a beer I like to associate with Love Labour's Lost because of how quickly people fall in love and also the multiple lovers all the on the same track. Love moves quickly. Also I like to associate this beer with As You Like It given the multiple people all on the same lover bicycle. Refreshing and in a new tall boy it can be a little much to handle. BEER 3- Taking it back to Nature with NO BOATS ON A SUNDAY. A pretty strict rule but yet it is fair. Hailing from Brunswick a local beer that pays homage to family time. A time on sundays when no boats could work so that sailors could spend time with their families. A cider about close families and we feel Henry 4th is a great play about family! BEER 4- Now a beer to enjoy under a Belgian Moon. That's right a Belgian Moon Wheat Beer. A beer that we have to admit looks better under the moonlight. A beer to have on a balcony with a lover like Romeo and Juliet who are just over the MOON with each other. A beer under the night sky in a wheat field. A beer to enjoy with love. A refreshing beer that bares it all. Like love it has nothing to hide FINAL BEER OF THE NIGHT HAS ME BARKING. Now I will be honest I picked Barking Squirrel purely for the picture. I mean look at it. Hop City really hopped on a good image. It reminds me so distinctly of Hamlet consulting the skull and yet when I drink this beer I also feel reflective. It is an amber lager. Which mean it is of two worlds. The lightness of a lager but also deep darkness of amber. A beer for an identity crisis and two paths. A beer that yet also mixes this conflict well together in a very compelling drama. WITH THAT WE HAVE ONE MORE TESTER NIGHT TO GO SO SHOOT US AN EMAIL AT [email protected] IF YOU WANT TO GET ON THE FUN AND REMEMBER MAY 5TH COME CHECK OUT SHAKESBEER SHOWDOWN AT 916 BATHURT. TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE.
https://www.nowtickets.ca/events/92921282/shakesbeers-showdown-revenge-of-the-5th As my friend Celia would say, "I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it." As round 2s often go this was filled with more difficult text and crafty beer but we are sure that is....AS YOU LIKE IT. So with MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING let's get hopping with this latest batch of hoppy beers. 1) Boneshaker. An ironic beer oddly morbidly cheerful and reflective. It makes me wonder if to be or not to be that is the question https://www.amsterdambeer.com/beer 2) Hops and Robbers a beer that will steal your heart. Hoppy yet not too hoppy, A good play with a comedy and double trouble like 2 Gentleman of Verona but also a smooth criminal beer like the outlaws. Oh How this beer does breed a habit in a man. http://doubletroublebrewing.com/ 3) Coconut Porter:from Creemore Springs. It is as a beer As I Like It. A little exotic and well traveled much like Pericles as he sails around the world! http://www.creemoresprings.com/en/index 4) Space Invaders. A spicy personality comedy beer. There is an ironic twist to the name because too many of these will have you in space.......I will just invade my way out but this does feel like a beer good enough for after a Tempest and say your name is Stephano and Trinculo.... https://www.amsterdambeer.com/beer 5) A truly royal beer the Duchess De Bourgogne. A tricky beer as it tastes like a fruit punch but yet retains a regal quality. A beer of sweet and proper but also deceptive as if hiding something. Remind of a certain Lady Mac.......no no no no world is already too cursed.https://belgianfamilybrewers.be/duchess/ NOW I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I THINK THIS BEER CROWD NEEDS MORE FRIENDS SO STAY TUNED FOR OUR NEXT TESTER NIGHT AND JOIN US! ALSO REMEMBER TO GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE SHOWDOWN WE ARE 25% SOLD OUT https://www.nowtickets.ca/events/92921282/shakesbeers-showdown-revenge-of-the-5th
